He was infamous, a man highly respected and artistically demonized at times, his impressive body of work altering the sculpture world and the painted image for all time.

Personally, he was also an incredible man, with a legion of wives and lovers and wronged friends -- he created the modern image of the volatile, crazy artist.

Here then, are 5 unique facts about Pablo Picasso that you probably didn't know about him.

#5: His name is gigantic.

What a memorable name he had! The alliteration of the first and last name worked beautifully, and everyone around the world could remember it. Strangely, though, his actual name had 23 words. What?!

#4: He could not get enough of the fairer sex.

Sure, everyone is pretty clear on the fact that he messed around with plenty of women during his life, but this is actually even more remarkable than you might think, because most of them were always in their 20s or 30s, and Picasso kept getting older (the women stayed the same age, however).

#3: Did Picasso rob the Louvre and take the Mona Lisa?

No one really knows why, but a good friend of Picasso's, who was under suspicion when the Mona Lisa was stolen in 1911, pointed a finger at Pablo and got him brought in for some police interrogation. Obviously he didn't steal it, but the police thought he did, at least for a while.

#2: Doing normal style paintings was easy for him.

Picasso often came under attack by critics for not being able to paint in the traditional ways that were expected of an artist -- accused of being more interested in ideas, he nevertheless could do great things, he just didn't think he had to do them in the old style.

#1: His final words weren't so unbelievably profound as you might think.

Did he say something great to his friends, or make a declaration of love for everyone that loved him, or what? Well, the "great" thing is debatable, since he said "drink to me, because I can't do it anymore myself," which really is quite lovely, when you think of it.
