Repairing a processor problem is one of the most tricky computer repair problems. As a processor starts to fail or overheats, the causes are difficult to differentiate from other general issues. Here I have given some process to inspect the problem.

Fixing Steps

Off the computer. Open the PC case. Ground yourself by holding the metal part of the case.Unplug the power of the fans . Take away any screws that hold the heatsink and fan. Unlatch the clips on the sideof the heatsink and fan and detach .

Step 2 : Put fingers the processor. If it is too hot for you to stay your hand on the processor, the processor may be overheating.

Examine that the processor is suitably mounted to the socket. If any of the hundreds of pins that fit into a socket on the motherboard are missing or not seated as it should be, the PC will not function.

Step 4 : See the BIOS for suitable processor settings. If the BIOS is set to the improper processor speed, the hardware can overheat and cause harms with the PC. Inspect that the BIOS shows the exact processor speed and type when booting the PC.

Exchange a working CPU with the one having problems, if you have a unused CPU that is matching with the motherboard. If the PC runs excellent with the substituted processor, then replace the processor.

Observe with themotherboard manufacturer to guarantee that a new processor is compatible. Most motherboard manufacturers list compatibility specifications on the commercial website.

Tips & Warnings When touching the processor or other components, ground yourself . Do not bump may cause damage any of the chips . Do not apply power or put too much pressure when seating a CPU, heatsink or fan. Do not forget to connect the power source for the CPU fan back in before starting the computer again.
